Oct2: REP FLAHERTY TO HOST ENERGY FORUM
Rep. Sean Flaherty, along with Rep. Peggy Pendleton and Sen. Phil Bartlett, to host community discussion on clean energy economy Friday, October 23rd, 2009
Public invited to learn more about energy reform bill that would create thousands of ‘green’ Maine jobs
Maine – Area residents are invited to attend a community discussion about the benefits of a clean energy economy with a representative of Repower Maine. The event will be held at 6 PM on October 23rd at the Scarborough Public Library. It is free and open to the public.
The event is sponsored by Representative Sean Flaherty, Representative Peggy Pendleton, Senator Phil Bartlett, and Repower Maine, a project of the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit organization working to persuade Americans of the importance and urgency of adopting and implementing effective and comprehensive solutions to combat global climate change.
The discussion will focus on comprehensive energy reform legislation that will create thousands of “green collar” jobs in Maine, reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, stem the devastating effects of climate change and reward innovation and job creation.
“This is a real opportunity to create jobs while reducing the energy costs for our homes and businesses. It is time Mainers stop sending $2 billion each year overseas in oil purchases and start investing that money right here at home.” – Rep. Sean Flaherty
