RE: New Energy Jobs Initiative

Friends,

If there is one single bill that best represents the campaign that we ran last year, this is the bill. As my top priority in the Legislature, creating good paying, green collar jobs is very important for our great state.

The bill, LR1724, is titled An Act To Create Jobs Through Investment in Green Energy and was introduced by Opportunity Maine. It is gaining cosponsors and wide-spread support.

Three major goals will be accomplished with this legislation:
1.) Create a $300 million+ annual market for efficiency entrepreneurs and businesses and create thousands of good-paying jobs.
2.) Increase efficiency and lower energy costs for every resident, business and factory in every region of the state.
3.) Reduce reliance on volatile and high-priced energy and keep more of our energy dollars in Maine supporting our businesses and employing our workers.

As many members of this group are young people from Maine, or young people who hope to settle back in Maine. I hope you will express you support for this bill by one of a few ways:

1.) Write to other legislators asking for their support.
2.) Write a comment about how you support this bill and send it to me to include in my testimony on April 1st.
3.) Attend the public hearing in Augusta to tell the legislature how important this initiative is!

Thank you for your continued support,
